DIVINE PROFOUND MYSTERIES

There are many profound things about God that we will never be able to fully grasp and comprehend. The following text is one of these complex divine mysteries that should cause us to stand in awe of God.

“Surely the wrath of man shall praise You;
With the remainder of wrath You shall gird Yourself.”
Psalm 76:10

1. “Surely the wrath of man shall praise You”

a) The wrath of man is often wrong and bad.
b) Yet the word here is that somehow God will make man’s wrath result in praise.

2. Clear examples of how man’s wrath can result in God’s praise

a) Wrath of king Ahasuerus (Esther 2).
i) He was angry with his wife Queen Vashti for not turning up at a dinner party he had organized.
ii) The incident ended up with Esther being made queen of the Babylonian empire.
iii) Through Queen Esther Israel was spared from a genocide attempt by a wicked minister called Haman.
b) Wrath of king Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 2)
i) He was angry that his council of wise men could not reveal and explain the dream he had.
ii) He ordered his wise men to be put to death.
iii) Out of this episode, Daniel came into prominence in the reign of king Nebuchadnezzar.
iv) He was able to help the king rule his empire wisely.

3. Vital lessons

a) Faith in God must be deepened when the trials of life become too complex to comprehend.
b) Faith teaches us not to despair but to trust in the Lord to work out His will. The wrath of man will only result in the praise of God.
