Day 335 – Psalm 71

“O God, You have taught me from my youth…” Psalm 71:17a

TAUGHT BY GOD

May we speak of God as our Teacher? If so, how may this doctrine be understood?

“O God, You have taught me from my youth;
And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.”
Psalm 71:17

1. God as Teacher

a) God’s Commitment.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.”
Psalm 32:8

i) To instruct
ii) To teach
iii) To guide
b) God’s special Concern to the people He teaches.

“Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way.

Who is the man that fears the LORD?
Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.”
Psalm 25:8-9, 12

i) He will even teach sinners.
ii) As long as they are humble.
iii) God is deeply committed to teaching those who fear Him.

2. Taught by God from youth

a) A grateful consciousness of God as Teacher.
b) Youth is that age when a good consciousness of God can commence.

3. Lessons God teaches

His “wondrous works” form a major part of the lessons He taught. These lessons are meant to be studied well and then declared by the pupil. What a privilege to have God as our Teacher! Let us determine to learn well.
