“I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD…” Psalm 71:16a

FINDING STRENGTH

Fear can create debilitating weakness. Thus strength must be found to counter weakness.

“I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD;
I will make mention of Your righteousness,
of Yours only.”
Psalm 71:16

1. “The strength of the Lord GOD”

a) This is obviously a reference to Divine strength.
b) God’s strength is available to all.
i) Who believe in the Lord.
ii) Who will pray for that strength.
iii) Who will trust that God would imbue strength.

2. “I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD”

a) Trust was exercised.
b) There was hope expressed.
i) God will indeed grant strength.
ii) It is possible to speak of going in the strength of the LORD.

3. Great examples of people who found strength in the Lord

a) The Hall of Faith-Fame records many mighty feats of strength (Hebrews 11).
b) These examples were recorded to inspire us to find similar strength.

4. “I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only”

a) God’s righteousness will see Him fulfilling His promise of strength.
b) When we receive strength we must make mention of the Lord.
c) It is only right that we ascribe strength to the Lord alone (Psalm 29:1).
