“I will awaken the dawn.” Psalm 57:8c

HOW YOU BEGIN EACH NEW DAY MATTERS

Few people begin the day on a strong and happy note! David offers an excellent example of how we can begin each new day on a very joyous note!

“Awake, my glory!
Awake, lute and harp!
I will awaken the dawn.”
Psalm 57:8

1. “Awake!”

a) David was addressing himself.
b) He sought to summon every part of his being to begin the day aright.
c) He chose to be “awake!”

2. “Glory… Lute… Harp”

a) What is “glory”?
i) The make-up of the whole person.
ii) The essence of the person.
iii) The achievements of life.
iv) The blessings of God.
b) Musical instruments
i) David’s addressing of his harp and lute suggests special affinity to these two instruments.
ii) As harps and lutes need to be tuned so he was tuning himself to praise God.

3. “I will awaken the dawn”

David was not just going to wake up feeling tired and sleepy! He was planning to “awake the dawn” with praise to God! What a tremendous spirit to cultivate!
