“Sing to Him a new song…” Psalm 33:3a

LIMITLESS EXPRESSIONS OF PRAISE

How may we sing praises to the Lord? The expressions are literally limitless! The heart that has found true faith in the Lord will naturally seek to express itself in a myriad of ways. The following text gives us an idea of how praise to the Lord may be expressed.

“Praise the LORD with the harp;
Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.
Sing to Him a new song;
Play skillfully with a shout of joy.”
Psalm 33:2-3

a) To praise the LORD

b) To honour Him

2. The Expressions

a) With the harp

b) With an instrument of ten strings

c) A new song (new composition especially)

d) This is not to disparage the existence of old songs.

3. The special challenges

a) To play skillfully

i) Not just singing from the heart.

ii) But also to raise the standard of musical skills.

b) With a shout of joy

i) There must be enthusiasm.

ii) There must be meaningful and fitting expression in rendering an item.

iii) Above everything else, the spirit of joy must be maintained at all cost (religious music must not lose the spirit of rejoicing in the Lord)!
