Day 142 – Psalm 19

“Their line has gone out through all the earth” Psalm 19:4

THE VOICE OF GOD

The psalmist postulates that God’s “voice” may be heard in His creation! This is beautifully expressed in the following lines.

“There is no speech nor language
Where their voice is not heard.
Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.
In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun.”
Psalm 19:3-4

1. The focus is God’s creation

a) The heavens/firmament
b) Day and Night

2. Creation is God’s special voice speaking to the world

a) Every “speech” and “language” on earth can hear and understand God’s voice.
b) Their line
i) It is a reference to God’s line of thought.
ii) It may also be understood as the sound of God’s voice.

3. “Their words to the end of the world”

a) From the beginning God has spoken through His creation.
b) To the end of the world God’s voice in creation will be heard.

4. “A tabernacle for the sun”

a) A tabernacle is literally a “tent”.
b) The “mighty sun” is described poetically as having a “tabernacle”.
c) The sun is not so mighty after all… when compared to the greatness of the heavens God created!

God has spoken through creation! Have we heard His voice?
