Text: Colossians 1: 26-27

MSITN VITAL DOCTRINES – CHRISTOLOGY

The mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints.

“To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Colossians 1:26-27

THE HOPE OF GLORY

1. The word “mystery”.

a. It refers to something hidden.

b. That hidden knowledge is then revealed.

c. The Apostles were the ones chosen by the Lord to reveal these mysteries.

d. Paul was especially chosen by the Lord to explain these mysteries by his writings.

2. Hidden mysteries:

a. They were hidden.

i. From ages.

ii. From generations.

b. There was a special reason why they were not revealed.

i. Because they centred on the Lord Jesus Christ.

ii. The coming of the Lord as the Messiah was prophesied.

iii. He had to fulfil all those prophecies.

iv. Then the full implications had to be explained by the apostles.

c. To whom would all these mysteries be revealed?

i. To the “saints”.

ii. To the believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

iii. Those who are non-believers cannot understand these mysteries.

3. God’s will.

a. This was God’s will made known.

b. This concerns the position and place of the Gentile believers in the Lord.

c. This was a wonderful mystery that Paul wrote about extensively.

4. The mystery of the place of Gentile believers.

a. This is a very rich and glorious mystery that has been revealed.

b. The Lord Jesus will be in the hearts of all true believers, Jew or Gentile.

c. The Lord Jesus is the hope and glory of all believers.

5. A special word of promise from the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Jesus answered and said to him, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.’”

John 14:23

a. The believer is one who loves the Lord Jesus.

b. He will also keep His word.

c. God the Father will love him.

d. Both Father and Son will make their home with the believer.

e. This was the glorious hope that was explained by the apostle Paul.

2．隐藏的奥秘：

a．它们被隐藏

i．历世

ii．历代

ii．主以弥赛亚的身份降临已被预言

iii. 祂必须应验所有的预言

iv. 使徒们之后必须解释其中所有的含义

c．向谁显明这些奥秘？

i．向“圣徒”

ii．向主耶稣基督的信徒

iii. 非信徒无法理解这些奥秘

3．上帝的旨意

a．这是上帝显示祂的旨意

b．这关系到外邦信徒在主内的地位

c．保罗写了很多关于这个奇妙的奥秘

4．外邦信徒地位的奥秘

a．这是个已显明的丰富及富荣耀的奥秘

b．无论是犹太人还是外邦人，主耶稣将在所有真正的信徒心中

c．主耶稣是所有信徒的盼望和荣耀

5．主耶稣基督的一句特别应许的话

“耶稣回答说：‘人若爱我，就必遵守我的道，我父也必爱他，并且我们要到他那里去，与他同住。’”

《约翰福音 14：23》

a．信徒是爱主耶稣的人

b．他也会遵守祂的道

c．父神会爱他

d. 父与子都将与信徒同住
