"Like a lion from the floodplain"

Text: Jeremiah 49:19

THE CHALLENGE OF THE LORD

The Babylonians were powerful conquerors in the ancient days. They were set to conquer Edom. But was this mighty empire able to overcome the LORD Himself?

“Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the floodplain of the Jordan
Against the dwelling place of the strong;
But I will suddenly make him run away from her.
And who is a chosen man that I may appoint over her?
For who is like Me?
Who will arraign Me?
And who is that shepherd
Who will withstand Me?”
Jeremiah 49:19

And who is a chosen man that I may appoint over her”

a) The LORD sent out this important word.

b) God is more than a match for the Babylonians.

e) The Babylonians may be compared to the lion, but the LORD is the Almighty God!

3. “For who is like Me? Who will arraign Me?
And who is that shepherd who will withstand Me?”

a) Three rhetorical questions were raised.

b) The answer is obvious!

i) There is no one like the LORD.

ii) No one can charge God in any way.

iii) No one would be able to withstand Him.
