Day 175 – Psalm 22

“My praise shall be of You in the great assembly” Psalm 22:25

STRONG PERSONAL COMMITMENT

As far as King David was concerned, he determined that he would always share his faith in God publicly. He had seen the Lord’s powerful hand of deliverance in his life, he could not just keep silent about the salvation he had obtained!

“My praise shall be of You in the great assembly;
I will pay My vows before those who fear Him.
The poor shall eat and be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will praise the LORD
Let your heart live forever!”
Psalm 22:25-26

1. “In the great assembly”

a) There is boldness expressed here.
b) Even among “the great assembly” David would not be ashamed of his faith in God.
c) He would declare his faith in God and offer Him due praise.

2. “I will pay my vows’

a) The actual vows are not specifically stated.
b) But intimations of the vow may be found in the following expressions:-
i) It has reference to caring for the poor.
ii) It has reference to all who seek the Lord in faith (“the faithful”).

VOWS OF A KING

It would not be difficult to understand that a good king would vow that he would discharge his kingly duties to the nation.

1. A vow to look after the poor

They must be given basic provisions.

“The poor shall eat and be satisfied..”
Psalm 22:26a

2. A vow to safeguard religious rights

The faithful must be assured of their right to worship God (despite the threats of wicked men).

“Those who seek Him will praise the LORD.”
Psalm 22:26b

May this kind of heart live forever indeed!
