Day 176 – Psalm 22

“The kingdom is the LORD’s” Psalm 22:28a

AN EXTENSIVE VISION

The prophetic vision found in Psalm 22 is positively amazing, especially with reference to the worship of the Messiah. It began with personal worship. It would end with a vision of a world in worship of the Lord.

“All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to the LORD,
And all the families of the nations shall worship before You.
For the kingdom is the LORD’s and He rules over nations.
All the prosperous of the earth shall eat and worship;
All those who go down to the dust shall bow before Him,
Even he who cannot keep himself alive.”
Psalm 22:27-29

1. Scope of the worshippers

a) All the ends of the world.
b) All the families of the nations.
c) The prosperous of the earth.
d) All those who go down to the dust (the downtrodden).
e) He who cannot keep himself alive (the abject poor).

2. Reasons for this turning to the Lord in worship

a) They shall remember what Christ has done to bring redemption to the world.
b) They shall then turn to the Lord.
i) In faith
ii) In gratitude
c) They will recognize the Lordship of the Messiah.
d) The prosperous will recognize that their success is the Lord’s grace given to them.
e) The poor will appreciate that they can come to the Lord and not be despised or turned away.
f) The downtrodden will turn to the Lord in hope for justice and help.
