MEDITATION
Genesis 20:17-18
17 So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children;
18 for the LORD had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Abraham’s prayer to God
a. He prayed for Abimelech.
b. God graciously heard his intercessory prayer.
2. Healing from God
a. God healed Abimelech,
b. And his wife,
c. And his female servants.
d. They were now able to bear children.
e. Children were considered important.
f. They were the future of the tribal kingdom.
3. The closing of the womb
a. God had closed up the wombs of all the females in Abimelech’s household.
i. His principal wife.
ii. His female servants (his concubines possibly).
b. Reason given:
i. Abimelech had abducted Sarah.
ii. God was angry with what he did.
He closed the wombs of his wife and concubines as punishment.
