Text: Genesis 21: 1-3
MEDITATION
Genesis 21:1-3
1 And the LORD visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken.
2 For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
3 And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him—whom Sarah bore to him—Isaac.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The LORD’s word
a. He had spoken to both Abraham and Sarah.
b. He had promised that they would have a son.
2. The fulfilment of the LORD’S word
a. The LORD did as He had spoken.
b. Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham.
c. This was done despite the fact that both of them were old.
d. This was at the set time that God had promised.
3. The naming of their son
a. He was called “Isaac”.
b. This was to commemorate the fact that:
i. Both Abraham and Sarah laughed when they were given a special promise from God.
ii. This promise brought on the laughter of unbelief.
iii. Their moment of unbelief would never be forgotten.
c. The birth of Isaac was special to Abraham and Sarah.
i. They had longed for and waited for so long to have a son.
ii. They saw the power of God at work in the birth of Isaac.
