Praising God consistently

Every day should be a day of praise. God is deserving of our praise consistently each day. But far often than not, we don’t praise God as we should. There may be even days that go by without us praising Him at all.

The Psalmist was a great example of how we should praise God, “Seven times a day I praise You,” (Ps 119:164) He had such a wonderful spirit of praise. He sought to praise the Lord seven times a day. There was great consistency in giving praise to the Lord throughout the day. He praised the Lord, especially for His Word.

Praising God for His Word

“Seven times a day I praise You, because of your righteous judgment.” (Ps 119:164)

The Psalmist sought to praise God for His judgment. His judgments are always righteous and just. They are part of the Word of God. The Psalmist’s appreciation of the Word of God caused him to give praise to the Lord seven times each day.

Reasons to praise God for His Word

Why did Psalmist give praise to the Lord for His Word?

  1. A high regard for God’s Word…“But my heart stands in awe of Your Word.” (Ps 119:161)
The Psalmist had high regard for the Lord’s Word. His heart was in awe and wonder of His Word. As the Lord’s Word is great and powerful, let us stand in awe and give praise to Him.
  2. Finding joy in the Lord’s Word…“I rejoice at Your Word” (Ps 119:162)
There is nothing in this world that can bring greater joy than the Word of God.
  3. Seeing the Lord’s Word as a great treasure…“As one who finds great treasure.” (Ps 119:162)
The Word of God is far greater than any other treasure that we can ever possess. Let us praise God for giving us a great treasure in the Word of God.
  4. Love for the Lord’s Word…“But I love Your law.” (Ps 119:163)
The Psalmist loved the Lord’s Word for all that it is. He had much to give praise for.
  5. The Lord’s Word gives great peace…“Great peace have those who love Your law,” (Ps 119:165)
The great peace that the Lord’s Word gives is unlike any other.
  6. The Lord’s Word helps us not to fall…“And nothing causes them to stumble.” (Ps 119:165)
When we depend on the Word of God, we are kept from stumbling. We praise God for His marvelous Word that makes such a difference in our lives.
