An Amazing Prophecy!

Text: Isaiah 53:1-3

1. It will not be easily believed Who has believed our report?          Isaiah 53:1a

a) The Jews rejected Jesus

b) They rejected all who spoke well of Jesus          John 9:22

2. Few would understand that God was involved in the life and ministry of the Messiah And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?          Isaiah 53:1b

3. Deeply provoking thoughts!

a) It was not revealed to the multitudes          Matthew 13:15

b) It was revealed to the disciples of Jesus          Matthew 13:11, 16-17

THE GROWTH OF JESUS DESCRIBED

1. He will grow up like a tender plant          Isaiah 53:2a

2. He will be like a root from dry ground          Isaiah 53:2b

THE PHYSICAL FORM OF JESUS

1. He has no form or comeliness          Isaiah 53:2c

2. There is no beauty          Isaiah 53:2d

3. Cf. 1 Samuel 16

a) The Lord does not see as man sees          1 Samuel 16:7a

b) Man sees the physical appearance mainly          1 Samuel 16:7b

c) The Lord sees the heart          1 Samuel 16:7c

THE SUFFERINGS OF JESUS

1. He is despised

2. He is rejected

3. A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief

 

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honour, that He by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
