Dear Parents,

A COMPOSITE PICTURE
The portrait of “a virtuous wife” is essentially a composite picture.. The writer did not have any particular woman in mind when he wrote on this subject-topic. It is wise to be forewarned as we read this portion of Scripture that virtually describes “the perfect wife”.

1. The Perfect Wife

a) The “perfect wife” does not exist.

b) This truth flows from the fact that no one is ‘perfect’.

2. Wrong application of the Scriptures

a) To use this text to reprimand wives for their shortcomings.

b) To use this text as an excuse for not getting married.

3. Right approach

a) With reference to parents

i) This text will serve as a good frame of reference.

ii) This portion of Scripture will give good pointers in the great task of parenting.

iii) This word will give much insight and inspiration.

b) With reference to brides-to-be

i) This subject-topic will challenge the heart greatly.

ii) Great insights to life (marriage) are to be found here.

c) With reference to husbands-to-be

i) Much needed wisdom is to be found in this text.

ii) This text can increase maturity of understanding of marriage.
