Dear Parents,

ANOTHER SET OF ENCOURAGING WORDS CONCERNING THE RIGHTEOUS
Let’s conclude our look at Proverbs 13 on the theme of “The Righteous”. Let us ever pursue righteousness personally. Let us also encourage and admonish our children to love righteousness. Two sets of deeds are contrasted in this study.

1. The Righteous hates lying

A righteous man hates lying…

Proverbs 13:5

2. Righteousness functions as a guard

Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless…

Proverbs 13:6

3. Righteousness brings joyous light

The light of the righteous rejoices…

Proverbs 13:9

4. Righteousness will be repaid

… to the righteous, good shall be repaid.

Proverbs 13:21

5. The Righteous will be singularly blessed

The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul…

Proverbs 13:25

THE CONTRASTING LIFESTYLE OF THE UNRIGHTEOUS
In the typical style found in the Book of Proverbs, the deeds of the righteous are contrasted with the deeds of the unrighteous.

1. Wickedness leads to shame ultimately

… a wicked man is loathsome and comes to shame.

Proverbs 13:5

2. Wickedness leads to the overthrow of the wicked

… wickedness overthrows the sinner.

Proverbs 13:6

3. Wickedness leads to darkness

… the lamp of the wicked will be put out.

Proverbs 13:9

4. Evil pursued becomes the pursuer

Evil pursues sinners…

Proverbs 13:21

5. Wickedness results in poverty

… the stomach of the wicked shall be in want.

Proverbs 13:25

Prayerfully,
Pastor Charlie
