(I) THE IDEA OF “SUBJECTION”

1. Being a human being

2. Limitations of being a human being

3. The things we are all subjected to:-

a) Suffering in life ( Romans 8:17-18 )

b) Sense of futility ( Romans 8:20a )

c) Sinful bondage to corruption ( Romans 8:21 )

d) Groaning under the strain and stress of life ( Romans 8:22 )

(II) SUBJECTED TO HOPE

1. Glorious Promises in Christ

a) Heirs of God, heirs with Christ ( Romans 8:17a )

b) We shall be glorified together ( Romans 8:17b-18 )

c) Awaiting the revealing of ourselves as sons of God ( Romans 8:19 )

d) Glorious liberty ( Romans 8:21 )

e)Subjected in Hope

f) That we may wait upon the Lord for full redemption ( Romans 8:23 )

g) That we may exercise our Faith that we are saved in this hope ( Romans 8:24 )

2. Arguments for Hope

a) Hope must of necessity not be something that is already seen ( Romans 8:24 )

b) Hope cultivates a sense of perseverance ( Romans 8:25 )

c) Hope cultivates a special sense of eagerness of anticipation ( Romans 8:25 )

(III) SPECIAL ASSISTANCE ALONG THE ROAD OF HOPE

1. The Person of the Holy Spirit

a) He indwells us

b) He is our Seal and Guarantee

2. Special Ministry of the Holy Spirit in us

a) He assures us that we are God’s children ( Romans 8:15-16 )

b) He aids us along life’s pathway ( Romans 8:26 )
