YOU SHALL RECEIVE POWER

THE PROBLEMS OF THE DISCIPLES
The Disciples were given what seemed to be a daunting task! The death of the Lord Jesus revealed terrible weaknesses in the Disciples:
- They lacked a strong Faith
- They lacked needed Fortitude
- They had miserably Failed the Lord Jesus for they all deserted Him
POST-RESURRECTION MINISTRY
The Lord Jesus was not deterred in any way by the abject failure of His Disciples. What did He do after He rose from the dead? Immediately, He sought all His Disciples.
- He sought to restore their Faith
- He sought to revive them
- He sought to reinvigorate their lives
The Lord Jesus succeeded to gather all the Disciples together. The first church at Jerusalem had 120 Founder Members.
THE PROMISE OF POWER
The Lord Jesus gave to the Disciples a wonderful word of promise.
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8
- You shall receive Power
a) God would empower the Disciples
b) They would find all the strength they needed
c) They need not fail as they did
- The Holy Spirit
a) He will be outpoured
b) He will empower each Disciple
- You shall be witnesses
a) The Disciples would become effective witnesses
b) They will be able to grow the Church
OUR CHALLENGE
Let us be challenged to seek empowerment that comes from the Holy Spirit. The Church that is empowered is one that would be greatly blessed indeed!
