A POWERFUL PRESENTATION OF THE LORD JESUS
When the Holy Spirit came upon the Disciples, their lives were changed permanently. Peter stood up to address the crowds that had gathered around the Disciples. He presented the reasons why the Disciple could speak in foreign languages. This was the special gift of the Holy Spirit.
Peter went on to offer a powerful presentation of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know—
23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death;
24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. Acts 2:22-24
- The Lord Jesus was presented
a) As a Man attested by God
b) God wrought many
i) Miracles
ii) Wonders
iii) Signs
- The suffering of the Lord Jesus
a) Taken by lawless hands
b) Crucified
c) Put to death
- All within God’s plan
a) His determined purpose
b) His foreknowledge
c) He raised up the Lord Jesus from the dead
OUR CHALLENGE
Let us appreciate the work of the Lord Jesus Christ afresh. Let us rejoice that His suffering and death were well-within the Will and Plan of God. The Lord Jesus is at the heart of the Gospel. It was the Lord Jesus who had prayed for the Spirit of God to be outpoured on the Disciples! He is the heart and centre of the Church!
