THE CHURCH UNDER PRESSURE
The First Church in Jerusalem was under great pressure before too long.
- The Sanhedrin Council began to harass the Apostles
- Peter and John were hauled up to appear before Council
a) They were jailed
b) They were warned
c) They were not allowed to proclaim the name of the Lord Jesus
THE RESPONSE OF THE CHURCH
Peter and John returned to the church brethren. All were appraised of the current situation.
- The Church recalled the Scriptures Acts 4:25-26; Psalm 2
- All were driven to seek God in prayer Acts 4:27-30
THE RESPONSE OF THE LORD
The Lord was not silent to the prayers of the Church. The following test is highly inspiring.
And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. Acts 4:31
- The place of assembly
a) It was shaken
b) This was a visible manifestation of power from God
c) He was with His people
d) He was hearing their prayers
- Filled with the Holy Spirit
a) The Spirit of God filled the Disciples in prayer
b) His Presence was greatly appreciated and felt
- Speaking the Word of God with boldness
a) Courage was given
b) Commitment was renewed
c) Continued preaching of the Word of God was there and with boldness
OUR CHALLENGE
Let us seek to seek the filling of the Spirit of God. Let us continue to be committed to the Lord’s Word in every sense of the word. Let there be a greater love for the Word of God in all our hearts!
