A SERIES OF MESSAGES ABOUT THE 2ND COMING

A NEW SERIES OF PULPIT MESSAGES
We commence a new series of pulpit messages on the subject of the Return of the Lord Jesus Christ. There are many Texts in the Scriptures that teach about the 2nd Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
THE PEOPLE WHO SPOKE ON THIS SUBJECT
There were a number of people who spoke or wrote about the 2nd Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ
- The Old Testament prophets
a) The phrase “The Day of the LORD” was used frequently
b) There were many aspects that were highlighted by the prophets
i) His 1st Coming
ii) His 2nd Coming
- The Lord Jesus Christ
a) He taught His Disciples about His Return
b) He spoke about it directly
c) He also spoke about it using Parables (Matthew 24, 25)
- The Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ
a) All of them were consistent in their teaching about the Return of the Lord
b) But the Apostles varied in their approach:
i) Different aspects were highlighted by the Apostles
ii) Some Epistles contained strong words of warning
iii) Other Epistles offered great words of encouragement
iv) But all of them sought to encourage all to be ready for the 2nd Coming
MANY HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE 2ND COMING
The Disciples of the Lord Jesus sought to understand this Doctrine. They posed three questions to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” Matthew 24:3
- The three areas of vital concerns
a) The destruction of the Temple
b) The 2nd Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ
c) The End of the Age
- These are subjects we ought to have more knowledge of
a) Ignorance is not bliss
b) Knowledge will help us prepare well for the 2nd Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ
