"I am persuaded..."
Text: Romans 8:38
NO NEED TO BE SWAYED BY CRITICS
Critics are persuaded by their own reasons to oppose and reject the doctrine of salvation by grace. Believers need not be moved by the doubts they cast. Paul teaches us how we may stand strong by a powerful persuasion of personal faith.
STANDING STRONG AGAINST CRITICS
Obviously, Paul stood strong and unbowed against critics. Let us take note of how he was able to stand so resolutely against the strongest of criticisms!
1. Knowing the Content of our Faith
a) Know the Doctrine of Justification well
b) Understand the depth of the following:-
i) God’s grace
ii) God’s mercy
iii) God’s love
iv) God’s power
v) God’s prerogative as Lord to give a full pardon for sins
c) Appreciate the involvement of all Three Persons in the Godhead
i) God’s Sovereignty.
ii) Christ’s death on the cross.
iii) The Holy Spirit’s power to apply the significance of Christ’s death.
2. Seeing through the weakness of the critics’ arguments
a) They are based on ignorance of God’s full plan of salvation.
b) The questions and doubts hurled at believers are mischievous and wicked.
c) There is no substantial value of the critics and their doubts.
