"The Spirit Himself bears witness..."

Text: Romans 8:16

SCRIPTURAL TRUTHS

The Scriptures contain great and soul-uplifting truths! The doctrine of salvation is surely one of the most vital and wonderful truths that we could ever read in the Bible. Imagine being forgiven of all our sins! As if that is not sufficient, we also read that God offers to us the adoption of sons. How happy the heart must be to read of such great truths in the Bible!

DREADFUL DOUBTS

However, before too long we are plagued by doubts! The following may be listed as common doubts that plague many believers.

1. Our sinful past haunt us.

2. Our present human weaknesses bewilder us.

3. Our guilty conscience troubles us.

4. Our lack of a strong faith causes us to be tormented by our doubts.

5. Some question their salvation in Christ Jesus!

BATTLING DOUBTS EFFECTIVELY

There are many things we can do to battle these terrifying doubts that bring such turmoil to the soul.

1. We must exercise our faith in God fervently.

2. We must steep ourselves in the knowledge of God’s word.

3. We must endeavour to resist all negative doubts that may come our way.

A SPECIAL MINISTRY OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD

Thank God He has given us another wonderful blessing. The following text describes a special ministry of the Holy Spirit.

“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit
that we are children of God.”
Romans 8:16

1. The Spirit of God will assure our hearts that we are indeed God’s children.

2. He will communicate to our spirit that we belong to God despite all our sins.

3. This is an invisible and internal work of the Spirit of God! It is nevertheless true!
