"Then I saw another beast"

Text: Revelation 13:11

ANOTHER EVIL BEAST

The Dragon caused the Beast of the Sea to arise. He would be a warring beast but he would be injured along the way.

The Dragon then raised up another Beast. The second Beast would arise from the Earth. He would give support to the Beast from the Sea.

“Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth,
and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.
And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence,
and causes the earth and those who dwell in it
to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.”
Revelation 13:11-12

1. The features of the Beast from the Earth.

a) He was not like the Beast from the Sea.

b) He had two horns like a lamb.

i) His may be called “soft power”.

ii) He would not employ brute strength as the Beast from the Sea.

2. The speech of the Beast from the Earth.

a) He would speak like the dragon his master.

b) His words would be like that of the dragon.

i) He would deceive.

ii) He would lie.

iii) He would blaspheme.

iv) His word cannot be trusted.

3. The authority of the Beast from the Earth.

a) He would exercise the authority of the Beast of the Sea.

b) Though he may use “soft power” the effects would not be puny.

4. The mission of the Beast of the Earth.

a) He would cause all dwelling on the earth to worship the Beast of the Sea.

b) His task is to support the cause of the Beast of the Sea.

5.Identities of the two beasts.

a) The Beast from the Sea is identified with the Antichrist.

i) He seeks to take the place of the real Lord Christ.

ii) He seeks to be a substitute for the Christ of God.

b) The Beast from the earth is identified as the False Prophet.

i) He may be likened to John the Baptiser, a true prophet.

ii) But he is a False prophet.
