"What is man that You are mindful of him..."

Day 61 – Psalm 8

“What is man that You are mindful of him…” Psalm 8:4a

A REFRESHING LINE OF THOUGHT

Tracing David’s line of thought in Psalm 8 is most refreshing!

1. He begins with the glorious name of God.

2. He goes on to think about God’s profound wisdom to create babies.

3. He goes on further to dwell on God’s creation of the celestial lights.

A HUMBLED HEART

Once again David thinks on the subject of man and he is completely awed!

“What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honour.”
Psalm 8:4-5

1. “What is man that You are mindful of him?”

a) A good question to begin with.
b) What is man indeed?
c) Why should God even be mindful of him?

2. “And the son of man that You visit him”

a) The term “son of man” is another way of describing man.
b) God is mindful of man and He visits him most graciously.

3. “A little lower than the angels”

a) There are far higher beings… such as angels.
b) “A little lower” (meaning: “Man is way lower than the angelic beings”)

4. “Crowned him with glory and honour”

a) Man is not without glory… for God gave this to him.
b) Man is also given honour by God!
