“Marvelous things He did in the sight of their fathers…” Psalm 78:12a

MARVELOUS THINGS

The Scriptures kept a very careful record of the mighty deeds of God. In particular, the plagues of God unleashed against Egypt.

“Marvelous things He did in the sight of their fathers,
In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.”
Psalm 78:12

1. “Marvelous things He did in the sight of their fathers”

a) Deeds that would cause anyone to marvel.

i) The generation that saw these mighty deeds.

ii) The significance should never be lost on future generations.

b) The plagues that humbled Egypt and forced Pharaoh to release Israel from captivity.

i) Waters turned into Blood Exodus 7:14-25

ii) The plague of Frogs Exodus 8:1-15

iii) The plague of Lice Exodus 8:16-19

iv) The plague of Flies Exodus 8:20-32

v) The plague of Livestock Exodus 9:1-7

2. “In the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan”

a) Egypt is more well-known to us.

b) Zoan was an important ancient city built by the Hyksos who ruled Egypt for 500 years.

c) This city was mentioned in Numbers 13:22 as an ancient city in Egypt.
