“You visit the earth and water it…” Psalm 65:9a
GOD’S CARE OF THE EARTH
God has always taken great care of this earth He made. He gave to man a charge to look after this beautiful earth (Genesis 1:27-31). Man can learn much from the way God has looked after the earth.
“You visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it;
The river of God is full of water; You provide their grain,
For so You have prepared it.
You water its ridges abundantly, You settle its furrows;
You make it soft with showers, You bless its growth.”
Psalm 65:9-10
1. YOU
We have a classic example of the use of the word “You” in the above text.
2. God’s tender care of the earth
a) He waters it.
b) He enriches it.
c) He provides the grain.
d) He prepares all the details to ensure growth.
3. God’s blessings
a) This is necessary.
b) God has always determined to bless His creation (Genesis 1-2).
THE PROBLEMS WE HAVE TODAY
Much has been said about the problems that confront us today.
1. De-forestation
2. Unsustainable growth
3. Poor use of water
4. Human greed that leads to exploitation of the earth’s resources.
David stood in awe of God’s tender care for the planet earth. Let us stand in grateful awe and appreciation of the Lord God afresh.
