Day 258 – Psalm 65

“Who established the mountains by His strength…” Psalm 65:6

TAKE TIME TO MEDITATE ON WHO GOD IS

If we desire to stand in awe of God when we come to His House for worship, we would do well to contemplate or meditate on His Being.

“Who established the mountains by His strength,
Being clothed with power;
You who still the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples”
Psalm 65:6-7

1. YOU

This pronoun was used again and again deliberately throughout Psalm 65. (Read Psalm 65 with this word “You” in this new awareness).

2. God as Creator

a) He made the mighty mountains and established them.
b) We have a Creator with obviously great strength and power.

3. God as Master of all creation

a) There may be storms.
Note the beautiful descriptions:
i) “Noise of the seas”
ii) “Noise of the waves”
b) But God can easily cause the waves and the seas to be still.

4. God as Lord of the human race

a) Human beings can be very tumultuous.
b) But God is also able to still “the tumult of the peoples”.

AN APPROPRIATE FEAR OF GOD

The following text teaches us how we should respond to God.

“They also who dwell in the farthest parts are afraid of Your signs;
You make the outgoings of the morning and evening rejoice.”
Psalm 65:8

God’s hand of power may be seen by all on earth. It is God who establishes the morning and the evening. Let there be a greater sense of reverence in us.
