Day 142 – Psalm 53

“Every one of them has turned aside…” Psalm 53:3

A SAD CONCLUSION

What did God find as He watches mankind? The following text offers an objective and sad conclusion.

“Every one of them has turned aside:
They have together become corrupt;
There is none who does good,
No, not one.”
Psalm 53:3

1. God’s Omniscience to be borne in mind

a) God’s study of mankind is based on His omniscience.
b) He knows and sees the intents of the human heart.

2. “Every one of them has turned aside”

a) He has turned aside from God’s moral laws written in his heart.
b) He has turned aside from the written laws He has given to man.

3. “They have together become corrupt”

a) Man is so capable of corruption.
b) Only with the strictest of laws man barely keeps himself from corruption.
c) The bent towards corruption is innate because of the flawed sinful nature of man.

4. “There is none who does good, no, not one”

a) God is looking at things from the absolute standpoint.
b) His position is that of “the purist”.
c) Man is capable of “relative goodness” (limited goodness).
i) He may do good to those he loves.
ii) He may do good if he feels he has something to gain from doing good.
