Day 110 – Psalm 50

“Whoever offers praise glorifies Me…” Psalm 50:23

RETURNING TO THE COVENANT-GOD

The psalmist Asaph was deeply involved in two aspects of the Lord’s work:-

1. In the prophetic ministry

a) Foretelling
i) Receiving a word from God
ii) Ascertaining the meaning of the Lord’s word
b) Forth-telling
i) Preaching
ii) Teaching

2. In the music ministry

a) To teach via music
b) To move hearts to return to God

ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO RETURN TO GOD

Asaph concluded his psalm urging his readers to consider what God had said about true worship and genuine faith in God.

“Whoever offers praise glorifies Me;
And to him who orders his conduct aright
I will show him the salvation of God.”
Psalm 50:23

1. “Whoever offers praise glorifies Me”

God’s focus was not “sacrifices and burnt offerings”. He would rather have His people offer heart-felt and genuine praise!

2. “And to him who orders his conduct aright”

God would rather His saints ordered their lives and conduct better.

God’s promise of showing His salvation to all who walk with Him brings great warmth to the heart! True worship is never formal ritualism. God loves those who walk with Him in faith and love.
