Day 109 – Psalm 50

“You who forget God…” Psalm 50:22

DANGERS HIGHLIGHTED

Moses warned Israel of a number of dangers that the nation would face. Two dangers may be especially highlighted:-

1. Danger of forgetting God (Deuteronomy 6:12; 8:14)

2. Danger of following after other gods (Deuteronomy 6:14; 7:1-4)

GRAVE CONSEQUENCES

When admonition is ignored, danger is no longer an idle threat. Grave consequences follow the pursuit of wicked activities.

“Now consider this, you who forget God,
Lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.”
Psalm 50:22

1. “Now consider this”

a) This was a strong wake-up call.
b) Israel, God’s people, must give due consideration to these words of God.
c) Asaph’s task:-
i) To bring this word from God to the nation.
ii) This word drew its authority from God Himself.

2. “You who forget God”

a) The ignorant had forgotten God.
b) The wicked had deliberately forgotten God.

3. “Lest I tear you in pieces and there be none to deliver”

a) There was yet hope.
b) But if this word of warning is rejected then grave consequences will take place.
