Day 51 – Psalm 45

“I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations…” Psalm 45:17a

CONCLUDING ON A NOTE OF PRAISE

This beautiful Psalm concluded on a high note of praise!

“Instead of Your fathers shall be Your sons,
Whom You will make princes in all the earth.
I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations;
Therefore the people shall praise You forever and ever.”
Psalm 45:16-17

1. “Instead of Your fathers shall be Your sons”

a) It is normal to glory in illustrious fathers.
b) The glory that God gives is now extended to sons.
c) These good sons would become princes in all the earth.

2. Spiritual sonship is in mind here

a) Many sons would be begotten.
b) These have the potential to become “princes”.

3. Added Divine blessing

a) God would give the Messiah a glorious name.
b) The Messiah-King will be given a name above all names (Philippians 2:9-11).
c) The Messiah would be adored and praised by His people forever and ever.

A BEAUTIFUL AND FITTING COMPOSITION

The sons of Korah began with a good theme- that of praising the king of Israel. However, as the psalm developed they found themselves going way beyond their focus on the earthly king (possibly Solomon).

There was a King far greater than Solomon! This King was none other than the Messiah-King! It is His Kingdom that would last forever and ever. It is the Messiah’s great reign that would earn Him a glorious name that would last for all eternity. What a wonderful hope we have through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, our great King of kings and Lord of lords!
