FULL AWARENESS OF THE PROPHETIC SCRIPTURES

The Lord Jesus Christ was fully aware of the prophetic Scriptures. The following text sees Jesus citing the text from Psalm 40.

“Therefore, when He came into the world, He said,
‘Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,
But a body You have prepared for Me.
In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure.
Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come-
In the volume of the book it is written of Me-
To do Your will, O God.â??â??
Hebrews 10:5-7

b) He knew that God did not take pleasure in burnt offerings or sacrifices for sin.

2. “But a body You have prepared for Me”

a) The word “body” is a reference to the Incarnation of Christ.
b) He had to take on flesh and blood and become fully human (with all its weaknesses).

3. “Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come… to do Your will, O God’ “

a) This represents the response of Jesus.
b) He understood why God had given Him a human body.
c) He knew what He must do when He was put on earth.
d) He must fulfill the will of God perfectly.

4. In the volume of the book it is written of Me

a) How would Jesus know the perfect will of God?
b) Jesus knew that God’s will would be found in “the volume of the book”.
c) This is a reference to the Holy Scriptures.
