“You have put gladness in my heart…” Psalm 4:7
THE THEME OF BLESSING
The theme of blessing is wonderfully traced in the Book of Psalms. Let us take time to look at this theme of blessing:
1. Announcement of the theme of “blessing”
“Blessed is the man…” Psalm 1:1
2. Assurance of being blessed
” Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.” Psalm 2:12d
3. Another assuring statement of being blessed
“Your blessing is upon Your people” Psalm 3:8
4. Praying for blessing
“LORD, lift up Your countenance upon us.” Psalm 4:6b
BLESSINGS WE MUST NOT TAKE FOR GRANTED
Many blessings of God are often taken for granted! Worse, they are not even noticed as “blessings”. Let’s learn how to appreciate every blessing of God.
“You have put gladness in my heart,
More than in the season that their grain and wine increased.”I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.”Psalm 4:7-8
1. Gladness of heart
a) This is a wonderful blessing we must not take for granted.
b) In contrast… there could be:-
i) Anger (Psalm 4:4)
ii) Doubt/despair (Psalm 4:6)
2. “I will both lie down in peace, and sleep”
a) Thank God for sleep.
b) Thank God for peace (of heart and mind).
Let us thank God for safe-keeping! Let us not take these blessings for granted!
