“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD…” Psalm 37:23

GOD’S PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT IN THE LIFE OF THE UPRIGHT

God loves those who walk uprightly. He is deeply and personally involved in their lives.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD,
And He delights in His way.
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down;
For the LORD upholds him with His hand.”
Psalm 37:23-24

1. Identification of the “good man”

a) He is also called “the upright” (Psalm 37:18a).

b) He is also referred to as “the righteous” (Psalm 37:21b).

2. Will the good man experience difficulties in his life?

a) Yes, there may be times when he may “fall”.

b) There may be hard times that may lay him low.

c) But he must believe that God would deliver him out of those difficult times of life.

3. God’s promise to the good man

a) He will not be utterly cast down.

i) Falling down is not the same as being cast away.

ii) Falling down will only be a temporary experience.

iii) God will see that he would not be destroyed (“utterly cast down”).

b) God will personally uphold him.

i) God will stand by him.

ii) He will uphold the good man.

iii) He will hold the good man by His own hand.
