Day 267 – Psalm 34

“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good…” Psalm 34:8

A WORD OF EXHORTATION

There are many moments in life that may bring about a sense of discouragement. Some become so discouraged that they yield to despondency and despair. A word of encouragement can go such a long way!

“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints!
There is no want to those who fear Him.
The young lions lack and suffer hunger;
But those who seek the LORD shall not lack
any good thing.”
Psalm 34:8-10

1. “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good”

a) This word is directed to all who have not tasted the goodness of the Lord.
b) The challenge is to exercise trust in the Lord.
c) Great blessing awaits the person who trusts in God.

2. “Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints”

a) This word is directed to all saints of God.
b) The challenge is to practise “the fear of the LORD”.

3. A glorious promise indeed

a) Those who truly seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.
b) An interesting illustration about young lions is made.
i) Young lions will forage far and wide to obtain food.
ii) But even these may not have their basic needs met

The words of David were not empty platitudes! Neither were they written to encourage greed for material wealth. They were honest words of testimony of godly and upright people who have experienced the goodness of the Lord. The reality of the Lord’s goodness will only be seen when we exercise faith in His word of promise.
