Psalm 32:6 "For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You..."

Day 250 – Psalm 32

“For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You…” Psalm 32:6

WHO ARE THE GODLY?

The “godly” are not people who are sinless. They are people who know God well enough to come to Him for His forgiveness diligently!

“For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You
In a time when You may be found.
Surely in a flood of great waters they shall not come near him.”
Psalm 32:6

1. “For this cause”

a) This is a reference to the knowledge of the Lord as One who forgives.
b) This God is not to be dreaded when He wants us to confess our sins.
c) He will forgive us of our many sins when we genuinely seek His forgiveness.

2. “Everyone who is godly shall pray to You”

The godly may be described as

a) People who know God.
b) People who pray to Him.
c) People who will seek to live as His children.
d) But they know well that the problem of sin will always be there.

3. “In a time when You may be found”

a) Seeking God’s forgiveness must not be taken for granted.
b) There must be a sense of urgency when seeking His forgiveness.
c) There may be a time when it is “too late” to seek God.

4. “In a flood of great waters”

a) This seems to be a veiled reference to the Great Flood in Noah’s time.
b) To the godly (like Noah) the flood did not affect him at all (but to those who did not turn to the Lord in time… all was lost).
