“But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD…” Psalm 31:14
DECLARATIONS OF “TRUST” IN GOD
David declared his trust in the Lord a number of times in Psalm 31.
First Declaration:
“In You, O LORD, I put my trust; let me never be ashamed.”
Psalm 31:1
Second Declaration:
“I have hated those who regard useless idols, but I trust in the LORD.”
Psalm 31:6
Third Declaration
“But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD; I say, ‘You are my God.'”

SIGNIFICANCE OF EACH STATEMENT OF TRUST
The significance of each statement of trust in the Lord stands out even more when we study Psalm 31 in greater depth.
1. Initial Trust in the Lord (Psalm 31:1)
a) This trust is valid.
b) It comes from acquisition of knowledge of God.
i) Religious upbringing from home.
ii) Religious teaching from spiritual teachers.
c) But it is largely an untested faith in the Lord.
2. Informed and Intelligent Trust in the Lord (Psalm 31:6)
a) Other religious alternatives were offered and considered.
b) There is a distinct and definite choice to exercise trust in the Lord alone.
3. Inspirational statement of trust in the Lord (Psalm 31:14)
a) David’s trust had undergone severe testing.
b) He fought hard to maintain his trust in the Lord.
c) He succeeded in holding fast to his declaration.
“I say, “‘You are my God.'”
