"I cried to the LORD... He heard me..."
Day 22 – Psalm 3
“I cried to the LORD… He heard me…” Psalm 3:4
WOULD GOD HEAR PRAYERS?
To the enemies of King David, God would not hear his prayers. Thus he could not expect any Divine help.
However, David’s faith in God taught him otherwise! He chose to believe that God would hear his prayers.
GOD DOES HEAR PRAYERS OFFERED TO HIM IN FAITH
This thought must have heartened David much. For pray he did, fervently and with great faith!
“I cried to the LORD with my voice,
And He heard me from His holy hill.”
Psalm 3:4
1. “I cried to the LORD”
a) David’s focus was on “The LORD” even as he prayed.
b) The name of the “LORD” was employed with reverential faith.
2. “With my voice”
a) David’s prayer was not offered up in his mind.
b) He actually vocalized his prayer.
i) Vocal prayers were “standard” ways to pray in ancient days.
ii) Vocal prayers are not to be discounted.
iii) They help develop focus.
iv) They help to give expression to faith.
3. “And He heard me”
a) This was something that David must have felt within his heart.
b) There came a confidence and conviction that his prayers had not been in vain.
4. “From His holy hill”
This is a clear reference to “Zion” (Psalm 2:6). God was close at hand. He had not abandoned His people. He who is Holy would respond to the prayers of those who trusted in Him. Confidence in God grew even as faithful prayers were offered up.
