“For the king trusts in the LORD” Psalm 21:7a

A GREAT RELATIONSHIP OF TRUST

What was so special about David’s relationship with God that resulted in such an outpouring of blessing? The answer may be found in the following words.

“For the king trusts in the LORD,
And through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved.
Your right hand will find all Your enemies;
Your right hand will find those who hate You.”
Psalm 21:7-8

1. “For the king trusts in the LORD”

a) A firm declaration of trust is made.
b) This declaration of trust in God had been reaffirmed many times over
(Psalm 11:1; 13:5).

2. “Through the mercy of the Most High”

a) David trusted in the Person of the Lord, whom he also called “The Most High”.
b) He trusted in the mercy of the Lord Most High.

3. Trust is best evidenced in times of great danger

a) There were always “enemies”.
i) External enemies
ii) Internal enemies (from within the nation)
b) They always posed a grave threat.
i) To national security.
ii) To the personal safety of the king.
c) Trust in God.
i) To discover who these enemies are.
ii) To destroy these enemies who not only hated David but God Himself!
