Psalm 139:14a "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made..."
Day 346 – Psalm 139
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” Psalm 139:14a
THE OMNIPOTENCE OF GOD
The psalmist David was very much taken up with the third aspect of the Being of God- His omnipotence! The Power of God is well displayed in the following:-
1. The creation of the human being (Psalm 139:13-16)
a) From within the womb.
b) In all its intricacies.
c) In response David had this to say.
“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number
than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.”
Psalm 139:17-18
2. A strong personal reaction against the wicked (Psalm 139:19-22)
a) Praying against the wicked and bloodthirsty people.
b) Distancing himself from the wicked.
c) Loathing those who hate the Lord.
A HUMBLE CONCLUSION
David concludes his meditation about the Being of God with a contrite prayer.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.”
Psalm 139:23-24
1. A prayer to search and to cleanse
a) The searching of the heart is made plain.
b) The cleansing part was not stated but is naturally included.
2. A prayer to be led by the Lord in His everlasting way
This is a fitting concluding thought. How wonderful it is to be led by such a great God!
