THE PSALMS OF DAVID

We have probably come to some conclusions about King David as we read his psalms. The following are some conclusions that we may have about him.

1. That he is a prolific writer

a) He is also very honest in his writing.
b) He bares his very soul.
i) He is not afraid to admit his weaknesses.
ii) He is not afraid to confess his sin either.

2. That he is a gifted psalmist

a) Each psalm reflects great skill.
b) Each psalm reflects deep thoughts.

3. That he has a very strong and healthy relationship with God

a) The psalms are not mere reflections of life.
b) The thoughts expressed are directed to God Himself.

4. That he is also a man of prayer

a) Many psalms contain an element of petition.
b) Many psalms contain an element of praise.

5. That he is one who exercises his faith in God

a) He may be struggling with his faith.
b) But the fact is that he does possess faith in God despite the upheavals in his life.

OUR CHALLENGE AS WE READ THE DAVIDIC PSALMS

Let us be deeply challenged to examine the state of our faith! Let us be stirred within our hearts to learn how we may have a similarly vibrant faith in God.
