“Righteous are You, O LORD, and upright are Your judgments.” Psalm 119:137

A STRONG RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GOD AND HIS WORD

The psalmist showed astuteness in observing that the Word of God is closely associated with the Lord Himself. The very character of the laws of God reflects the Lord Himself. The following features may be highlighted:-

1. God’s Word have the following characteristics:

a) They are upright (Psalm 119:137b).
b) They are righteous (Psalm 119:138b).
c) They are very faithful (Psalm 119:138b).
d) They are very pure (Psalm 119:140a).
e) They are truth (Psalm 119:142b).
f) They are everlasting (Psalm 119:144a).

2. The laws reflect the Person of God.

a) God is righteous (Psalm 119:137a).
b) God’s righteousness is everlasting (Psalm 119:142a).

READING THE WORD OF GOD EFFECTIVELY

How may we read the Word of God more effectively? Let us consider the following ramifications:-

1. Our minds must be further illumined concerning the Person of God.

a) A greater understanding of God ought to be sought after.
b) A deeper appreciation of God ought to be cultivated.

2. Our hearts must be moved much more.

a) To love the Lord even more deeply.
b) To treasure His Word more definitely.

3. Our life must reflect the Lord and His word.

Our life must ever display the power of God’s word. Let there be wisdom and discernment as the Word of God is displayed in the way we live. May God write upon our hearts distinctly so that we are epistles of Christ.
