Day 180 – Psalm 107

“And He led them forth by the right way…” Psalm 107:7a

MORE THAN JUST DELIVERANCE

God more than answered their cry to be delivered from their distresses. Out of His mercy and His goodness, He provided for them.

“And He led them forth by the right way,
That they might go to a city for a dwelling place.”
Psalm 107:7

1. “And He led them”

a) This was a great truth Moses had taught the children of Israel (Deuteronomy 1:30-31).
b) He had always led them gloriously.
i) By day, a pillar of cloud was with the children of Israel.
ii) By night, a pillar of fire protected them.
c) But Israel had always taken God for granted.

2. “By the right way”

a) God’s ways are always clearly seen.
b) They are marked by righteousness.
c) The Scriptures contain many promises of God’s leading (Proverbs 3:5-6; Psalm 25:8-10).

3. “That they might go to a city for a dwelling place”

a) Essentially this means being able to settle down in a foreign land and making a living there.
b) The prophet Jeremiah wrote to the captives and advised them to settle down in the foreign lands as best they could (Jeremiah 29:1-14).

4. Examples of people who did well in the years of Captivity

a) Daniel and his three friends (Daniel 1).
b) Esther and Mordecai (Book of Esther).
c) God would not only deliver those who cried out to Him.
d) He would also bless them as they walked faithfully with Him.
