“He remembered His holy promise…” Psalm 105:42a

THE HOLY SCRIPTURES

The Scriptures that God gave to the children of Israel contained many things:

1. History of the nation

2. Laws for the nation

3. Prophecies

4. Promises

The psalmist gratefully recalled that all God had done for His people were so that He could fulfil His promises made to Abraham.

“For He remembered His holy promise,
And Abraham His servant.
He brought out His people with joy,
His chosen ones with gladness.”
Psalm 105:42-43

FULFILLING OF PROMISES

This is a wonderful way of looking at the Scriptures.

1. He remembered His holy promise to His servant Abraham

a) God had given a covenant to Abraham (Genesis 12, 13, 15, 22).
b) He remembered His holy promise.
c) He fulfilled His promise.

2. In what manner did God keep His promise to Abraham?

a) With joy.
b) With gladness.
c) God happily led the children of Israel to Canaan.

3. In what spirit did the children of Israel receive God’s blessings?

a) Sadly, they kept complaining.
b) They did not have a corresponding faithful and grateful heart of joy.
