"The LORD knows..." Psalm 1:6

Text: Psalm 1

CONSCIOUS CHOICES

The psalmist made some very conscious choices in his life. These may be enumerated distinctly:-

1. He chose his companions very carefully (Psalm 1:1; Proverbs 12:26). He refused to be associated with wicked people.

2. He chose to devote time to the reading of the Scriptures (Psalm 1:2).

3. He chose to let his heart and mind to dwell on what he reads from the Scriptures.

CONSCIOUS AWARENESS OF THE LORD

The psalmist obviously had a faith-relationship with God. He also expressed determination to cultivate a special sense of awareness of the Lord in his life. The following text reflects his understanding of God’s role in the affairs of mankind.

“For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
Psalm 1:6

CHOOSING BETWEEN TWO WAYS OF LIFE

The psalmist neatly divided life’s choices into two:-

1. The way of the righteous

2. The way of the ungodly

Each person must choose his own path! God allows the individual to make up his mind as to which pathway he wishes to walk on in life!

CHOICE OF THE PSALMIST

The choice of the psalmist was very obvious! He chose the way of the righteous!

1. It was the path of blessing from God.

a) He would choose against evil.
b) He would choose to walk with God.
c) He would choose to devote time to read the Law of the Lord.

2. It was the path that God acknowledged

It may not be a path that the world would choose. However, it was enough for the psalmist that “the Lord knows the path of the righteous”! To choose a path that leads to ultimate destruction was unthinkable! Have you chosen your path of life?
