MEDITATION
Genesis 18:16-18
16 Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way.
17 And the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing,
18 since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Departure of the heavenly guests
a. Abraham was truly a great host.
b. He walked with his guests as they prepared to depart.
c. He was going to send them on their way.
d. This demonstrated a significant regard for his guests.
2. In the direction of Sodom
a. The guests seemed to be heading towards Sodom.
b. Abraham would certainly have heard of the evil reputation of that city.
3. The LORD’S commendation of Abraham is to be noted
a. Abraham would certainly become “a great and mighty nation”.
b. He would become a blessing to his descendants.
c. Not only that, he would become a blessing to all nations of the earth.
4. An astonishing prophetic statement
a. These prophetic statements were truly outstanding.
b. Abraham and Sarah were still childless at that point of time.
c. The significance of prophecy lies with the LORD Himself.
d. His power would be needed to bring to pass all prophetic statements.
