Text: Genesis 18: 19-21
MEDITATION
Genesis 18:19-21
19 For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”
20 And the LORD said, “Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grave,
21 I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Significance of God’s visits to Abraham
a. That he might command his children and his household.
b. That he might instruct and command his children (descendants):
i. To keep the way of the LORD.
ii. To do righteousness and justice.
c. That God may fulfil all that He had promised Abraham.
2. Explanation for the visit to Sodom
a. Because there was a great outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah.
b. Because their sin was very grave.
3. The purpose of visiting Sodom and Gomorrah
a. To personally check out the situation in these two cities.
b. He will thoroughly examine:
i. The great outcry that had reached heaven.
ii. The situation there would be personally assessed.
iii. This was God’s way of expressing deep personal interest and concern.

19 我眷顾他,为要叫他吩咐他的众子和他的眷属,遵守我的道,秉公行义,使我所应许亚伯拉罕的话都成就了。”
20 耶和华说:“所多玛和蛾摩拉的罪恶甚重,声闻于我。21 我现在要下去,察看他们所行的,果然尽像那达到我耳中的声音一样吗?若是不然,我也必知道。”
