Text: Exodus 8: 16-19
MEDITATION
Exodus 8:16-19
16 So the LORD said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your rod, and strike the dust of the land, so that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.’”
17 And they did so. For Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod and struck the dust of the earth, and it became lice on man and beast. All the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.
18 Now the magicians so worked with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not. So there were lice on man and beast.
19 Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, just as the LORD had said.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The first two plagues
a. Water to blood
The ancient Egyptians worshipped the god of the River Nile.
b. Frogs
They also worshipped the deity of frogs, associated with abundance.
The deities worshipped were obviously powerless against the LORD.
2. The third plague
a. This involved the dust in the land.
b. The ancient Egyptians also had a god of the dust!
c. The dust of the land would become lice!
3. Aaron
a. He was called upon to perform this miracle.
b. He took his rod and struck the dust of the land.
c. Lice covered both man and beast throughout Egypt.
4. The magicians
a. They failed to conjure up lice from the dust.
b. Their word to the Pharaoh- “This is the finger of God!”
5. The Pharaoh’s heart remained hardened. He did not heed just as God had said!

《出埃及记 8：16-19》
16 耶和华吩咐摩西说：“你对亚伦说：‘伸出你的杖击打地上的尘土，使尘土在埃及遍地变做虱子。’”
17 他们就这样行。亚伦伸杖击打地上的尘土，就在人身上和牲畜身上有了虱子，埃及遍地的尘土都变成虱子了。
18 行法术的也用邪术要生出虱子来，却是不能。于是在人身上和牲畜身上都有了虱子。19 行法术的就对法老说：“这是神的手段。”法老心里刚硬，不肯听摩西、亚伦，正如耶和华所说的。
