Text: Exodus 8: 20-24
MEDITATION
Exodus 8:20-24
20 And the LORD said to Moses, “Rise early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh as he comes out to the water. Then say to him, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.
21 Or else, if you will not let My people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies on you and your servants, on your people and into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground on which they stand.
22 And in that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there, in order that you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the land.
23 I will [make a difference between My people and your people. Tomorrow this sign shall be.”’”
24 And the LORD did so. Thick swarms of flies came into the house of Pharaoh, into his servants’ houses, and into all the land of Egypt. The land was corrupted because of the swarms of flies.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The Pharaoh at the River Nile
a. This was a religious ritual he still carried out.
b. Despite the River Nile having turned to blood recently.
2. Moses was to see Pharaoh in the morning at the River Nile
a. The command to release the children of Israel was once again stated.
b. Warning of a fourth plague was given: swarms of flies.
c. The ancient Egyptians worshipped a god of the flies too.
3. The land of Goshen
a. This was the land which was given by a good Pharaoh in the days of Joseph (Genesis 47).
b. God declared that the flies would not invade Goshen.
4. A special way of differentiation between Egypt and the children of Israel
a. All would know that the children of Israel were God’s people.
b. This would be an obvious sign to all in the land of Egypt.
5. Thick swarms of flies covered the land of Egypt, corrupting everything!

《出埃及记 8：20-24》
20 耶和华对摩西说：“你清早起来，法老来到水边，你站在他面前，对他说：‘耶和华这样说：容我的百姓去，好侍奉我。
21 你若不容我的百姓去，我要叫成群的苍蝇到你和你臣仆并你百姓的身上，进你的房屋，并且埃及人的房屋和他们所住的地都要满了成群的苍蝇。
22 当那日，我必分别我百姓所住的歌珊地，使那里没有成群的苍蝇，好叫你知道我是天下的耶和华。
23 我要将我的百姓和你的百姓分别出来。明天必有这神迹。’”24 耶和华就这样行。苍蝇成了大群，进入法老的宫殿和他臣仆的房屋，埃及遍地就因这成群的苍蝇败坏了。
